Pansar Plants 503 Trees at UPM Bintulu Campus and Hosts Engaging Regional Family Day Retreat in Celebration of Merdeka Day

29 to 31 August 2026, Pansar continued our active commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement by organizing the Bintulu Tree Planting & Family Day 2026, purchasing and planting 503 native trees at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus grounds on 29 August 2026. This initiative marked the inspiring launch of our comprehensive three-day, two-night regional gathering held throughout the weekend.

The event brought together 120 participants comprising Pansar employees and their family members from our Head Office alongside branches in Sibu, Miri, Kuching, and Bintulu. Beyond strengthening connections across regional offices, the initiative enhances local biodiversity, restores indigenous forest ecosystems, and encourages environmental responsibility within our workforce. The campus was selected as the venue for its standing as Sarawak’s premier academic center for agricultural and forestry sciences, ensuring that the new trees will thrive under research-backed land management and professional long-term care.

The selection focused strictly on indigenous hardwood species, consisting of 500 Engkabang Jantung and 3 Belian trees. Engkabang Jantung, celebrated for its oil-bearing seeds and role in stabilizing riparian soils, symbolizes sustainable growth and fruitfulness. Meanwhile, Belian, the legendary ironwood of Borneo, brings unmatched strength, resilience, and longevity, mirroring Pansar’s corporate foundation built over decades of shared trust and dedication.

By purchasing and planting these 503 native trees, Pansar is proud to contribute directly to the enhancement of Sarawak’s natural environment while bringing our employees and families together, and we will continue planting throughout the year,” said Mr. David Tai, Chief Operating Officer.

The retreat continued in Bintulu on the next day with an action-packed Family Day dedicated to challenge games and creative bonding. Having gathered at the Pansar Bintulu Office in vibrant blue team t-shirts, participants were divided into four dynamic groups, throwing themselves into a morning challenge that sent teams racing across town to discover iconic local landmarks and snap creative group photos.

The competitive spirit extended into the afternoon back at the office with an engaging group cake decoration contest split across the four rival teams. Creativity and teamwork peaked as participants crafted their sweet masterpieces, with Group 2 ultimately clinching the overall championship title across the day’s diverse activities. The joyous celebration culminated in the evening with a lively barbecue dinner, featuring fellowship, games, and shared laughter under the stars.

On 31 August 2026, coinciding with the historic Merdeka Day celebrations, the final leg of the retreat ended with an insightful corporate visit to our valued customer, Vastor Enterprise (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, a leading red brick manufacturer in Bintulu.

The visit provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen valuable industry relationships, exchange insights, and foster stronger connections with our customer. Following the visit, everyone embarked on their journeys back to their respective hometowns across Sibu, Miri and Kuching.

Building upon a diverse series of community and environmental programs across Kuching, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, and Selangor, this multi-faceted regional gathering powerfully advances Pansar’s broader ESG agenda. By seamlessly integrating ecological stewardship, workforce wellness, teamwork, and strong customer relations, the weekend successfully embodied key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, promoting Climate Action (SDG 13) and Life on Land (SDG 15) through afforestation, while championing Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) across our entire organization and operating communities.
