Pansar Agro Engineering Business Unit Held a Farmer Talk on Fertilizer Strategies to Boost Oil Palm Yields in Sandakan and Tawau

13 and 15 May 2025, Pansar Agro Engineering Business Unit organised a Farmer Talk in Sandakan and Tawau in collaboration with Fertitrade (M) Sdn Bhd. These farmer talks aimed to introduce perfect palm fertilizer to the Sabah market, focusing on the theme “Selecting the Right Fertilizer to Boost Oil Palm Yields”. The event attracted participation from small and medium-scale oil palm planters, with 19 attendees in Sandakan and 23 attendees in Tawau.

The event was held at Empire Seafood Restaurant in Sandakan and Ocean Area Seafood Restaurant in Tawau. It served as a platform to engage with local planters and share insights on the use of advanced fertilizer solutions to enhance oil palm productivity. The session began with a welcome and introduction by Mr Tiong King Kiong, Product Manager of Agro Engineering Business Division. He highlighted the importance of proper fertilizer selection in ensuring long-term sustainability and improved yields in oil palm cultivation.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr Yap Yao Yang, Agronomy Executive at Fertitrade (M) Sdn Bhd, who has a background in Biotechnology. His talk focused on the significance of using water-soluble phosphate fertilizers for effective nutrient absorption and improved root development. He also addressed the role of ammonium sulphate in supplying nitrogen and sulfur, two essential elements that support healthy plant growth and yield enhancement.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger, by promoting improved agricultural productivity, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by encouraging efficient use of farming inputs, and Goal 13: Climate Action, by supporting sustainable practices that help reduce environmental impact.
