Over 80 shipbuilders attended Yanmar seminar

SIBU: Over 80 shipbuilders from throughout the State attended a Yanmar Marine Sales and Technical Seminar here yesterday to know more about the latest innovations in marine technology. The one-day seminar was also aimed at introducing the latest Yanmar 6AYM-ETE marine engine and to gather feedback from shipowners and shipbuilders on other related requirements. It is jointly organised by Yanmar and its distributor Pansar (Pan Sarawak) Co. Sdn Bhd. During the opening at a hotel here, Pansar executive director Jason Tai said the seminar was a gathering of partnerships and common vision in revolutionising the use of marine engineering technology in the shipbuilding industry. “Yanmar Asia (S) Corp. Pte Ltd managing director Kenji Fujii has always professed to us his globalisation policy.”

“Although Yanmar is a global company, Pansar as its distributor must play its role in a localised environment to supply engines and services to fit local conditions and requirements.” Tai added that the seminar was another opportunity created by Yanmar and Pansar to ensure that locally they could all work together as true partners in revolutionising the use of marine engineering technology in shipbuilding.

“The Yanmar 6AYM-ETE marine engine that we are introducing to you today is testimony to that partnership, of listening and working with you in building this marine engine to your requirements and above all, the price is comfortably affordable.”

“Of course, our working partnership is more than just engine and price, it is also about our high availability of services to you.”

In line with this, he disclosed that Pansar’s new parts and service centre with fully computerised parts tracking and picking system and a state-of-the-art equipped service centre in Sungai Antu here would be fully operational in May 2004.

Apart from the seminar, the participants were later brought to board a fast passenger boat powered by the Yanmar 6AYM-ETE to Sibu’s new shipbuilding zone at Rantau Panjang near here.
