Seventy shipbuilding players attend Yanmar product briefing

SIBU: More than 70 shipbuilding industry players from throughout the state attended a half day seminar here on March 27, 2014 on the world renowned Yanmar brand’s range of marine diesel engine products.

One of the products introduced to the participants during the seminar is 12AYM-WET, an IMO Tier II compliant and mechanical control engine with horsepower output ratings of 1200ps, 1400ps, 1550ps and 1650ps.

Present during the seminar, jointly organized by Yanmar and Pansar were Yanmar Asia (Singapore) Corporation Pte Ltd managing director Naoya Umegaki and Pansar managing director Jason Tai.

Designed for workboats and fast passenger and crew boats, the 12AYM-WET is a compact, fuel efficient and reliable engine.

The 12AYM-WET series is also used for tugboats where a 1200ps engine can achieve a bollard pull of up to 33 tonnes for any single 30 metre tugboat.

The first vessel to be fitted with the completely new 12AYM-WET was Ekspres Bahagia Group (L) Sdn Bhd owned Coral Island 1, a high speed workboat engine of over 2,000 horsepower.

A launch ceremony and sea trial of this ferry boat, organized by Pansar and Yanmar was carried out in 2011 in Langkawi where the 12AYM-WET engine impressed the shipbuilders, naval architects, shipyard and boat owners who were invited to the event.

Pansar is the distributor for Yanmar marine engine products in the country.

It is entrusted by the Japanese brand to do the testing and monitoring for all its products in the local market.

Apart from testing and monitoring, Pansar also has the technical expertise and experience to ensure the products are designed to meet the local condition.
